I remember an interview years ago with a prestigious Boston-based consulting firm, who shall go unnamed….
The particular interviewer, studied my resume, and then proceeded to lecture me on what a good resume should look like because I had “too many” jobs…told me that I was only qualified for the internal operations side of the house – clearly my pedigree wasn’t good enough…
I let him finish and responded politely, but in no uncertain terms, that I will keep changing and looking for opportunities until I find the “right fit”. I then dismissed myself from the meeting since it was clearly not the right place for me…and the rest is history.
You can’t get where you want to go if you don’t know where you are going. You shouldn’t waste time with people who aren’t the “right fit”. But, you can’t make these decisions unless you know what the “right fit” is.
Hmm, wonder if this person has changed their approach at all and how far they made it professionally.
