I heard these famous words this week at my 7 year old’s baseball practice and it triggered some basic business thoughts. These words are a metaphor for business if you want to maximize productivity and increase your chances of success.
How easy it is to get sidetracked during the day with a special project for a client, a joke from a friend, a long lunch, a prospect that will never buy, a new idea that isn’t scalable,…so on and so forth.
Have you ever noticed how successful people master their job and how successful companies seem to dominate with what appears to be a simple idea? Laser like focus with your “eye on the ball” leads to great things.
I had to turn away a special project today for a client but I think it was the right move for the business and I hope it reinforced this very special trait that makes for great performers and for great businesses.
Focus.
