I don’t know about you, but where I live the parents do their kid’s homework so it’s correct. I wonder who that’s for…? I won’t get into the social commentary here, but this phenomenon speaks volumes and is something that needs to addressed head on.
My son is learning how to skate and one of the best metaphors for life is watching him try to do a crossover or try a hockey stop….and fall! He gets right back up, always with a big smile, and keeps going. What would happen if I skated with him and never let him fall? I wonder if he would learn to skate and have the confidence to push harder to get better?
Failure is necessary for people to learn, extend their limits, build confidence…We learn by our mistakes not our successes. In fact, I have learned a simple exercise over the years to ask clients why we won the business and not simply celebrate the success. I want to learn what we did right.
Take some risks and fall down every once in a while. Get up and brush yourself off and keep going. It’s not only okay to fall down, it’s essential for growth.

so true mate. other side of the coin is that in life no one is going to give you a ribbon because you were the 9th best salesperson on the team – 3rd place is you’re fired……
Y, but in order to get first or second you have to fail along the way..we all do.
agreed – my point is that in our society today we place too much emphasis on self esteem and make failure ok making people comfortable with it instead of using it as a tool to motivate them to succeed.
