Q. How much does it cost to tell someone they did a great job?

A. It doesn’t cost anything except a few moments of time.

Q. So why don’t we do more of this?

A. Because most of us focus on the bottom line and not what drives it, people.

I vividly remember the coaches I loved and worked hard for and those were the ones that took the time to let me know when I did something well, not just when I made a mistake.

It’s easy to tell someone when they missed a target or didn’t do something well, but it’s much more productive to mix in positive feedback when it’s deserved.  They call that motivation.

Tell someone today how well they are doing, if they deserve it.
