If you are marketing and selling something with value then you better know your shit or you will be ushered out the door these days. There is too much data and information in the public domain so the buyer comes fully armed before they even speak with you.
These guys don’t really exist anymore…

I’ve moved to the other side of the desk now and was interviewing potential CRM implementation partners this week and last – I asked one sales rep why we should work with him as opposed to his competitors and he was unable to give me a coherent answer and tried to make me feel like a jerk for asking. The only thing that kept him in the running was his willingness to hustle and connect us with some senior experts within his company as part of the pre-sales process.
