I am back from San Fran on the redeye. For the record, I hate redeyes!!! But there is no choice if you can’t kill a day in the air.
Had my meeting and it was beautiful. Sorry, all of you sales 2.0 junkies, old-fashioned selling works and it’s absolutely necessary if you want to differentiate yourself. I haven’t taken a dozen formal sales training courses, but I do remember one early on and will never forget what the instructor said – He said “you” are the reason they buy, you are the differentiating factor. That always stuck with me and it’s so true.
In any event, the one on one meeting was effective and reinforced the value and the excitement to get this over the goal line. If I took the easy way out, I would have taken a leisurely tour of Alcatraz and flown home. Work hard and go after it! As Woody Allen says, 90% of success is just showing up.
To be continued. It’s not over until the paper is in.
