We all know we need 11 men on the field to play a football game and we need 5 players to suit up for a basketball game, and 9 to play baseball…How many people do you need to operate efficiently in business?
It’s a balance. It’s important to strike the right balance of resources so growth will ensue otherwise there are just loads of bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Once you get the team fielded correctly and everyone playing the right position then you are ready to play ball!
I have seen so many businesses with all of their resources loaded up in the back room -focused on product or technology – with no one on the front end and I have seen the converse as well. These businesses wonder why there are lots of frustrations and they can’t grow. In either scenario, the business is out of balance for sustained growth.
Figure out how many people you need on the field, and get that taken care of, and keep that balance of resources in check and your chances for sustained growth and a happy organization will be more likely.
