Although I still believe in old-fashioned communication, we have to all embrace technology and the new behavior of consumers – they use the web and search, do research….so leverage this behavior.
I had dinner and drinks with a Doc tonight and lo and behold he is quitting his medical practice to teach other docs how to leverage the web to build their medical practice.
Now, my Dad was a Doctor and believe me this kind of thinking never would have crossed his mind. The world has changed and we need to stay current or we will fall behind. Make the web and the new behavior your friend and leverage it to your advantage.
It will still conclude with the same old basic human interaction so don’t worry….if you have great communication and social skills they won’t be lost in this sales 2.0 world.
Embrace the web! it won’t hurt you.
Brick
Brick,
Enjoyed meeting you the other evening and was energized to find someone else in our age category that is excited about blogging.
As you stated in your post, I am eager to unite social media and medicine as it has the power to improve the quality of the health content on the Internet. In the end, doctors win by creating tighter relationships with their patients and, thus, grow their practice. Also, patients/the public wins by getting higher caliber and more credible health information.
While you can’t see your father entertaining this idea, most of my colleagues probably think I’m crazy to consider using the techniques of Internet Marketing to improve health education.
Look forward to reading more from you!
Randy
Randy, thanks for the comment! Let’s get together soon and brainstorm.
