Over the years I have visited many kinds of companies and I have always been surprised how many of these companies invest so little time in what I believe is the critical factor for success – the business model.
So what do I mean by this?
1. What is the sales strategy?
2. Is there a recurring revenue stream?
3. Is there operating leverage?
I can’t tell you how many businesses I have seen over the years that don’t even have a sales force or put so little emphasis on sales. All of the resources are spent on technology or product development.
That’s great…but, I have news for you – people don’t buy your product and service unless you sell. And, when you get a client you have to take really great care of that client. Your great product and business will die on the vine if you can’t bring in clients and figure out how to do this profitably.
Pick up the phone and go sell something.
