Can you believe that?
After I got up off the floor, I reminded myself of some basic business principles and my accountant was just doing what she thought was best for her business. She didn’t think she could service me correctly and recommended that I use a different type of accountant.
Bravo!
We all want clients, especially early on, but when we reach critical mass then it’s good business practice to define the ideal customer profile and do some pruning and, yes, turn away clients that will not be good for the business. We don’t have to chase everyone and do business with people who don’t make good sense for our business.
Well, now I have to find a new accountant, but that’s okay. I will find someone where the fit makes sense.
