You know, sometimes it is just the product that matters despite the business operation.
I stood in line last evening for longer than anyone should to pick up a simple order of Chinese food. But, I did so, because the supply of good Chinese food is limited and I waited patiently for my order.
Without any competition, I had to endure
1. A telephone only service
2. One person manning the desk, who took the order, fulfilled the order, the only one who could speak English…
3. No system for knowing when your order was finished aside from periodic asking
Now, what’s interesting to me and I would argue should be to you…is that many professional business to business organizations still operate as if they have a monopoly and take their time returning calls, responding to leads, improving operations, etc…
If I am competing with businesses like this I am very happy because I have a big, big strategic advantage. I hesitate to remind others..as I straddle the line between service provider and competitor but I am compelled to remind us all.
Basic blocking and tackling wins in the end.
