Does anyone out there remember the TV show, Let’s Make a Deal with Monte Hall? I used to love that show and the thrill of picking the right door…kid’s excitement I know.
Well, we sort of play the same game today as a professional business person, particularly if you are a salesperson – what “door” should you knock on and what “button” should you push?
The skill is listening carefully and paying attention to all of the surrounding intelligence so you know what button to push that will open the door. There isn’t enough time in the day to knock on every door…
I had a deal this week that was going sideways and was lucky enough to find the right button and bingo, deal was closed.
Some people call this working smart…I call it understanding your buyer, the business, the pain points and then having the guts to push on that button.
More examples to follow on this…

Once you know the pain point keep pushing on it like a raw nerve. Had a customer in for an immersion experience few weeks ago. One of the it staff was dead set against the idea of deploying any software in the cloud. When I mentioned that our sla amounts to 8 hrs of downtime annually the CFO lookEd at his techie and said mate that’s better than we’re doing now.
Basics really, be a problem solver.
