Just because you don’t receive a reply or comment, it doesn’t mean people aren’t listening. This is especially true with social media.
Let me give you a couple of examples:
1. Negative
I am connected to someone on LinkedIn who happens to be very active. Now, I don’t happen to agree with this person’s approach and style, but I have never replied or engaged in any conversation so this person has no idea what I think and has no ability to respond.
2. Positive
I recently connected with a business contact to learn this person was one of my early subscribers and actually likes what I am doing. Again, no engagement; therefore, no feedback or ability to respond.
Both of these cases are different in nature but both are problematic for the author. In both cases, the audience is silent, but one is negative and the other positive. In either case, knowing sure would be helpful and without a dialogue there is no chance to respond or take the appropriate action.
Creating a conversation is critical so there is a chance to see what the market is thinking otherwise there is no opportunity to respond and leverage feedback or pivot if necessary.
You can be certain the market may be silent, but they are listening.
