I am short on patience but sometimes it’s necessary to advance one’s agenda. I was reminded of this the last couple days…
Sometimes it’s appropriate to just sit quietly and listen instead of looking for an opening to advance your agenda. More progress can be made by just participating…that may be the best way to build credibility and trust and set the stage for the next opportunity. Sales is a game of strategy and it’s necessary to look ahead 2 or 3 moves before you make the next one.
I realize I am being cryptic here but I am specifically referring to being part of a conference or someone else’s meeting as opposed to being on the agenda or running a sales call or a client meeting. A direct line is not always the best approach if it means interrupting the equilibrium of a group in an attempt to advance your agenda.
Persistence still applies but persistence with a strategy is the preferred approach. When the time is right you will have your chance to jump on the accelerator…until then, use the clutch and shift gears along the way.
