Rather than paraphrase, here it is…
just had a classic sales v marketing showdown. one of the mktg girls called me in for a mtg to discuss unsolicited proposals they want to send to my accounts. on one of the accounts i was like no need to bother w them they just bought a competitive product and the girl says “well we are going to bother” and i was like so why are you asking for my input:) fun times – miss being able to do my own mktg was much more effective
Sound familiar? Wonder why there is such a divide between the two functions in most firms? I never have figured it out..maybe it has something to do with management and proper incentives? I dunno..
