Yeah, you need a good product, and you need a little help from the market, but you better get the team right if you want to build a winning and sustainable business. If you can relate to this cartoon then you probably know what I mean. How many of you have seen a star performer with a cancerous attitude? It’s not worth it in the long run. Great teams that work well together with tight processes beat teams with a couple stars all the time. I like sports examples so let’s look at the Boston Celtics as a great example with a sustainable dynasty.
I don’t see enough focus on fit, culture in the hiring process and that becomes a costly mistake.
